English Speaking Day 4th December 2017

Teacher: Mr. Sheedy

Student: Emma, Yuki (6E)

6E
Emma: Yuki, this year is a tough year for all our F.6 students. We are going to the take the challenging public exam, HKDSE. Some students are under enormous pressure.
Yuki: Yes, that's why on 3rd Nov, the career and life planning committee in our school invited some of our old students to share their experience of doing revision and give us some tips on exam preparation.
Emma: That's a memorable and meaningful night! We have gained lots of inspirations that night. Let me also do something to show my support, not only for F.6 students but also for all students.
(Emma singing)
Yuki: We are not always doing well, we will meet a lot of difficulties and face different pressure. But you need to have confidence in yourself. When you believe there will be a power to push you. Don't be afraid to fail. Keep going to meet the challenge. Every challenge can help you to learn more. Learn from the mistakes, grow from the defeat. Turn on your power and stay right now to be strong.
Emma: Whenever you feel tired and want to give up, sing this song. You will have the power to keep fighting. Let's fight together!

Yuki: Fighting!

English Speaking Day 27th November 2017

Teacher: Mr. Sheedy

Student: Tom(4B),

6BC - Emoticon vs Emoji

Tom (4B) - Hobby
Good morning, today I want to talk about my favourite hobby, which is swimming. I started this hobby five years ago when my father took me to the local pool in Ma on Shan. I often go swimming with my father, but I also enjoying swimming with my friends, or in my swimming club. Within my swimming club I joined several competitions during my primary school life and once I finished second runner up.

There are many benefits to swimming. For example, it’s good for my health, as I can improve my strength and fitness. In addition it’s a useful life skill to have and also helps me to get out of the house to enjoy some fresh air. In conclusion, I really enjoy swimming as it gives me the opportunity to think about my life and reduce my study pressure. Thank you for listening and have a great English speaking day.

English Speaking Day 30th October 2017

Teacher: Mr. Sheedy

Student: Stella (4C), Hades (4E), Raymond (4E), Ian (6D), Vivian(6D)

Form 4 - Idols
Stella
My favourite idol is very famous in Hong Kong. Her name is GEM and she is a singer and song writer. GEM is a very attractive person and I love her singing voice. I also like her personality as she is always very polite and friendly to her fans. I recommend others to listen to her music and enjoy her talent.

Hades
My idol is Mr. Sheedy. He was my English teacher during form 3 which was my first year in BWWTC. He is a funny person and always helped me to try my best in his lessons. Even though I had many arguments with Mr. Sheedy and I thought he was very annoying, in the end I know he puts his heart into his teaching.

Raymond
My idol is my friend Fan Man Lok from 4B class. In my opinion he is a very good and kind person and always makes me laugh. We have been classmates for several years and often sit next to each other. Most importantly Fan Man Lok is a generous man who will always give to others without thinking of the cost.

Form 6D - Reading
B: Let’s talk about reading. Reading books and literature can improve our literacy. Also it can be educational and enjoyable. I read a lot of books in spare time. So I don’t mind you call me a bookworm.
G: I'm a bookworm too! One of my favourite author is Ronald Dahl, who wrote stories like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Fiction is so amazing because the plot is not based on real people. I think this story can really capture my imagination. If you are interested in it, you can borrow it from school library.
B: And my favourite writer is Henry Winkler. He is the literacy hero. He has dyslexia. That’s a condition where your brain makes it hard to read words. Although he has dyslexia, he writes book about a boy with learning difficulties.

G: I think reading can let us explore a new world! Actually, our school provides several resources for us, such as a renovated library, professional reading team and interesting TVC programs. It is never too late to start.

English Speaking Day 18th September 2017 Teacher: Mr. Sheedy Students: Kan (6A)

English Speaking Day 18th September 2017

Teacher: Mr. Sheedy

Student: Kan (6A)

Sacrifice

Good morning, principal, teachers, and fellow students, I'm Kan from 6A. Today I'm going to talk about sacrifice. That means to do something for the benefits of others . With the new school year starting, I'm sure that each class has to choose some students to take different positions, such as the Monitors and class committee members. From what I have seen, most of the students wouldn't be volunteering to do it. Because there is a lot of work to do, so most of us do no want to get involved. But there's also some exceptions. Some of us may volunteer to take the responsibility. i appreciate and respect them for what they do. Because they do extra work to serve us. Taking responsibility can also help you out in the future. Because you have the experience taking different roles. You learn more knowledge. This may help you get a job in the future since you will be better than the other's because You know how to deal with different situation. Taking responsibility not only benefit yourself but the other's. So next time when you are asked to volunteer your service, don’t hesitate. You will be helping yourself too. Thank you

English Speaking Day 20th March 2017

Teacher: Mr. Murphy

Students: Jason (4B) & Katherine (4C)

Voluntary Day

K (Katherine): Good morning everybody,
J (Jason): My name is Jason and I'm from 4B
K: My name is Katherine. I'm from 4C
J: today we would like to talk about the annual Voluntary day.
The Voluntary day was held on 25th February at our school. All Form 4 students have taken part in this meaningful activity.
K: Yes and this time we needed to design games for the elderly. Besides Form 4, the V-net team, Student Union and PTA also came to help. They have designed some nice games for the elderly.
J: There were altogether nine booths for the elderly to play. They could also get a present after playing. Besides having fun at our booths, the old people could watch some wonderful performances like skipping and singing. All of them were having fun here at our school.
K: I believe all students must have learnt a lot from the old folks while interacting with them. It's really meaningful.
J: Yes the old folks know a lot and they are willing to share their experience with us.
K: It's really meaningful and I hope I can have more chances to do voluntary work. To give is better than to receive.
That's all we want to say. Thank you

English Speaking Day 13th March 2017

Teacher: Mr Sheedy

Students:  Li Hin Nam (3B) and Yeung Nga Yin (3C)

Tom: Good morning everyone, today I'm going to talk about...(in Chinese)

Roxy: Wait Tom! What are you doing? Today is English speaking day you need to speak in English!

Tom: Really? (in Chinese)

Roxy: Yes la! Speak English please!

Tom: Oh sorry Roxy, I forgot. So many students never spoke English in BWWTC that I forgot today is English Speaking Day.

Roxy: That's true Tom. So today we have to encourage them to speak more English.

Tom: You're right Roxy, so what should we talk about? Maybe we can talk about Mr. Sheedy and his English lessons?

Roxy: No la, no reason to discuss him. Mr. Sheedy is just a small potato in this school. Let's talk about someone more interesting.

Tom: That's true Roxy, Mr. Sheedy is a tiny tiny potato in this world. How about we talk about Galileo, we have learnt a lot of information about him recently.

Roxy: Yes. Galileo was a genius who has inspired scientists for many generations to learn more about our universe.

Tom: Yes he invented the telescope and also helped to prove that all the planets in our solar system orbit around the sun.

Roxy: That's correct. Galileo was very talented at science and maths and he always wanted to change the world. But Galileo's belief also got him into lots of trouble.

Tom: Yes that's right Rox. The Catholic Church hated him because he disagreed with their theory. The Church punished Galileo for his beliefs and didn't want him to have any freedom.

Roxy: Exactly. So we must remember that all of us must fight for what we believe in. No one can control what we believe and we feel and we must always keep out freedom.

Tom: That's right Rox. Galileo taught us this important lesson. Well that's all we've got to talk about for today. We hope you all learned something.

Together: Have a great English Speaking Day. Bye~

English Speaking Day 7th March 2017

Teacher: Mr. Murphy

Students: Lam Wai Ho, Garson (3D) Wong Hiu Ying, Kathy (3D)

Garson (G): Ah! GG la! I forgot to do my English homework!

Kathy (K): “GG?” What do you mean?

G: “GG” is a term used by online game players. It means “good game” originally, but people misunderstood it as “game over”. So now, whenever there’s something bad happens, people will use “GG” to express their frustration.

K: See~ That’s really bad. I have told you not to FF too much in class. Now, you see!

G: I did not! The meaning of “FF” comes from a game called “Final Fantasy” which means someone who daydreams a lot. I did not FF in class. I just have too many things to think about~

K: Ha, I now know why you say GG all the time~ You now better think of a good reason to tell your teacher why you forgot to do your homework~

Together: This is the end of the sharing from class 3D. Thank you!
